History of Mainline 651

This vehicle was delivered new to SYT in April 1991 as 651, wearing 'Rotherham Mainline' livery. The vehicle became First Mainline 60495 under national numbering before receiving a large scale interior refurbishment - with work ongiong to reverse this.

651 was also converted to a Driver Training Vehicle, being sent to work out of Rotherham depot and withdrawn in 2013. Upon withdrawal, members of the South Yorkshire Transport Museum acquired the vehicle for restoration where it was stripped down and assessed.

Little work progressed and the vehicle was offered to the trust in 2018 and it arrived at the South Yorkshire Transport Trust shortly after. The vehicle was then donated to the Heaton Archives Trust to be used as an exhibition vehicle once restoration has finished.
