History of Sheffield Omnibus 236 (K236 MAP)

This vehicle was one of three new to Sheffield Omnibus in November 1992. This being the middle of the three as 236. It is an Alexander PS bodied Volvo B10M. A common sight in South Yorkshire. 

 

After Sheffield Omnibus was bought by the Yorkshire Traction group it moved to Andrews was repainted into their own blue and cream livery and was carried fleet number 2236 and 2336 during this time.  

 

It moved within the Traction group and was operated by Yorkshire Traction up to the sale of the Traction group to Stagecoach in December 2005. 

 

Within the first six months of Stagecoach ownership it had received corporate livery and a new fleet number, 20236. 

 

It ran for a few more years with Stagecoach before being withdrawn. It’s last life before preservation was as a mobile youth centre for a church group in Beverley.  

 

Acquired for preservation in 2022, it is hoped that it can be returned to a bus in the future.
