History of SYT 2479 (D479OWE)

This Dominator is a member of the final batch of 20 delivered with coach seating, a Gardner 6LXCT engine and 4 speed Voith transmissions. 2479 was new in October 1986.

Vehicles 2471 to 2485 all carried Fastline livery when new and were used on express, or longer distance services. 2479 was new to East Bank depot but moved to Doncaster after only a short stay in Sheffield and remained there for the rest of its working life, being withdrawn from service in 2006.

Shortly after withdrawal, it entered preservation and remains stored in ‘as withdrawn’ condition. 2479 spent most of its early service life operating the X78 service between Doncaster and Sheffield.

Work to return this vehicle to the road has started but is some way off being complete. Electrical issues are the biggest hurdle at the moment.
